Justin Williams, Managing Director of Datacat Ltd, launched the company in early 2006 after a number of years as a director of IT support company Lynx Computing. Although Justin is no longer involved with Lynx, he is glad to say that they are one of Datacat's channel partners.
Justin's experience in IT support not only equipped him to deal with the technical aspects of Datacat, but was instrumental in his decision to set up the company.
'There were many times during my time in IT support when our clients had cabling requirements and wanted us to recommend the best solution. However experience soon taught me - the hard way - that many companies offering data cabling were either far too expensive or simply not technically qualified to provide adequate cabling to meet the requirements of the SME market' he says.
'We have endeavoured to provide a technical service on a par with our larger competitors while keeping ahead of the smaller ones in terms of training, technical expertise and manufacturers' accreditation'
Given his IT background, Justin unsurprisingly ensures that every Datacat installation meets all the technical criteria of its category, while insisting that as well as passing stringent testing procedures, Datacat installations should also pass a rigorous visual inspection. 'As far as I - and most clients - are concerned, if it looks as if it has been done properly then it probably has, whereas if it doesn't look OK, it probably isn't!'
